About the Forensic Camp
Camp Focus
The Florida Forensics Camp is designed for adolescents (ages 13-17) to explore forensic psychology and forensic science. Television series such as "CSI" and "NCIS" have stimulated the imagination and interest of the general public and students alike. The fascination of witnessing the convergence of scientific and psychological processes to solve intriguing crimes using DNA, reconstruction, blood splatter, psychological profiling, behavioral assessment, and other psychological investigative approaches. The trouble is that no crime is solved in an hour, most complex cases may take years to solve, if ever.
Realistic Understandings about Forensic Psychology and Forensic Science.
The faculty of the Forensic Psychology Program at Florida Tech and the Forensic Psychology Students Association strongly believe that students with a strong interest in either forensic psychology or forensic science need a realistic expectation of what each discipline is and what career opportunities actually exist. We at Florida Tech are committed to community awareness of forensic psychology and for our sister discipline forensic science. This mission is the foundation of our summer Florida Forensic Camp.
Forensic Camp Activities
The camp activities are centered around competitions, scenario training based around concepts presented in seminars and classroom presentations. Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they learn to a week long Team Investigation Competition where teams are presented a murder mystery and compete all week to solve a mystery in that concludes with a mock trial.
