Proposal Meeting

As you near completion of your proposal, you must schedule a proposal meeting with your dissertation committee. This meeting serves as a formal evaluation of your dissertation proposal. The proposal must be provided to your committee members at least 4 weeks prior to your proposal meeting. Your committee members will then review the proposal and develop theoretical and methodological questions. During your meeting, you will be asked to discuss the ideas contained in your proposal and address any questions raised by your committee members. Based on this meeting, the committee will then decide whether to accept or reject your proposal. In most cases involving acceptance of the proposal, the committee will identify improvements that must be made to the research plans prior to data collection.
