Student Activities
Florida Tech has over a hundred student organizations that allow students to participate in activities related to their academic pursuits or just have fun. Professional Organizations
Florida Public Relations Association Student chapter
Florida Tech offers a student chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA), a statewide organization of public relations professionals. Members of the student chapter participate in exciting public relations activities through the year. To apply for membership, download and complete the application form and hand it in, along with the membership fees, to Dr. Suzanne Laurion (Crawford Tower, room 615).

Writing & Publications
The Communicator
The Communicator, formerly named Tablature, is the bi-annual official newsletter of Florida Tech’s Humanities and Communication Department. Aside from providing news and insight about the people and events in the Humanities and Communication Department, the newsletter also provides a great opportunity for students to polish their writing skills by submitting articles.
Browse through past issues in the News Archive. To submit an article for the next issue of The Communicator, email the editor, Dr. Heidi Edwards. The Communicator also publishes alumni updates, and we encourage Humanities and Communication Department alumni to send us updates about their careers and family life.
Kaleidoscope
Kaleidoscope, previously named Belletrist, is a literary magazine that publishes short stories, poetry, and artwork created by Florida Tech students and faculty. For more information, contact editor Nicole Johnson at njohnson@fit.edu .
The Crimson
For students interested in journalism, becoming a staff member of The Crimson, the official student-run newspaper of Florida Tech, can be a great way to gain experience. Staff members meet every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The Crimson's office is located in the back of Grissom Hall. For more information, email the Editor-in-Chief, William Ulrich.
Society for Science Fiction and Fantasy
The Society for Science Fiction and Fantasy exists to further the understanding and acceptance of science fiction, fantasy, and gaming. The Society meets on Fridays at 6:00 p.m. on the second floor of the SUB.
Radio & Television
FITV
FITV, Florida Tech’s student-run television, needs camera operators, writers, editors, and actors/actresses. If you are interested, email FITV@fit.edu.
FIT Student-Run Web Radio
The student-run web radio is the voice of the student body, playing the music that students request. The group meets on Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Sub Café.
Theater, Art & Music
The College Players
College Players is Florida Tech's student-run performing arts organization. Recent productions by The College Players have included "Rumors" and "Once Upon a Mattress." The College Players meet on Thursday nights at 8:00 pm at the Gleason Performing Arts Center, and Florida Tech and community members are welcome.
Florida Tech Film Society
The Florida Tech Film Society aims to make classic, art, foreign, independent, and rare movies accessible to students. Movies are screened at 7:30 p.m. in the EC 118 auditorium and are free of charge. For more information, contact Aaron Worob.
Anime Club
The Anime Club meets in EC118 every Thursday from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. to watch and appreciate Japanese animation. For more information, contact Alberto Gomez.
Student Activism, Volunteering & Community Service
UNITE: United Network for Insight, Tolerance and Education
UNITE provides a supportive atmosphere for students, staff, and faculty dealing with issues concerning sexual orientation or gender identity. UNITE promotes tolerance by increasing public awareness and education about the GLBTQ population.
Partnership with University Park Elementary School
As part of the partnership between Florida Tech and University Park Elementary School, Florida Tech students host University Park students on campus, allowing University Park students to “get a feel” for the different departments on campus. Florida Tech students also present advice about different fields of study during an annual "careers day" held at the University Park campus. For more information, contact Dr. Judith Strother.
Recycling at Florida Tech
The Alpha Phi Omega coed service organization operates a campus-wide recycling effort. To help out, visit their website.
