The focus of the College of Psychology and
Liberal Arts (CoPLA) is the fascinating realm of the thoughts,
behaviors, values
and artistic contributions of human beings. Our curriculum
prepares students to conceptualize broadly, think critically,
communicate effectively and interact positively with diverse
populations here and abroad.
The students and faculty of CoPLA
are a diverse and energetic group. We are scholars, researchers
and practitioners. Our
faculty include nationally and internationally known scholars,
researchers and leaders within their disciplines. Faculty in
the applied programs continue to work in their fields—they
are excellent instructors because they practice what they teach;
bringing real life examples into the classroom. Our broad-based
undergraduate curricula, with many opportunities for elective
courses and internships, give much leeway in preparing
students for a variety of careers or graduate studies. Our
graduate programs are recognized nationally for their excellence
in
preparing students for careers in areas of great need.
We
believe in community service and outreach. Our faculty
and students provide services through programs associated
with
CoPLA, such as Applied Behavioral Services, the Family
Learning Program, the Center for Organizational Effectiveness, and the Community Psychological
Services Center. Many of our students have internships
and
practica
in the local communities. And all our students have the
opportunity for hands-on learning.
I encourage you to explore
the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts’ web site.
You will get a good idea of the breadth of educational opportunities
available here. Also feel free
to contact us for more information or if you have specific
questions.
Sincerely,
Mary Beth Kenkel, Ph.D.
