Florida Tech Offers Two BCBA Certification Programs

Overview

The two behavior analysis graduate BCBA certification programs are an option for those who want to develop professionally and become a BCBA or a BCaBA without getting another degree or want to do so in the process of obtaining a Master of Arts in Professional Behavior Analysis.

These BCBA certification sequences are offered online as professional development courses. They are not synchronous with the Florida Tech semester system; course sequences begin every three months. Check www.fit.edu/bst/ for current offerings.

The graduate-level certificate courses may be taken either for credit (at some degree programs; check with degree program administrator to determine if certificate courses may be applied to a degree program) or professional development nontransferable credit. It is recommended students choose the second option unless they are certain they can apply the credits toward a degree program in which they are already enrolled. The second option is also valid for use of these courses as part of the Master of Arts in Professional Behavior Analysis degree program requirements.  Additionally, any of these courses taken prior to admission can be transferred in with a grade of B or better.

It is strongly recommended prospective students check the board’s website at www.BACB.com for information about certification requirements in addition to the coursework offered in our BCBA certification courses.

Applied Behavior Analysis Assistant

The assistant graduate certificate program is suited for those who have a bachelor’s degree and want to develop professionally before, or instead of, seeking a graduate degree. Completion of the five- course sequence in this program will allow students who hold a minimum of an undergraduate degree in a BACB-approved field from an accredited university and who go on to obtain the supervised field experience required by the BACB, to qualify to take the Board Certified assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA®) examination. The BACB has approved this BCaBA certification sequence as meeting the instructional requirements for eligibility to acquire BCaBA certification. Completion of this certificate program does not constitute completion of a graduate degree.

Applied Behavior Analysis

The ABA graduate certificate is suited for students who have a graduate degree and who want to develop professionally by specializing in behavior analysis. Completion of the eight-course BCBA Certification sequence will allow students holding a minimum of a master’s degree in a BACB-approved field from an accredited university and who go on to obtain the supervised field experience required by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board Inc. (BACB), to qualify to the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) examination. The BACB has approved the eight-course sequence as meeting the instructional requirements for eligibility to take the exam for BCBA certification.
